Búzios is located at 105 miles NE from the city of Rio de Janeiro. Many international and Brazilian airlines offer non-stop flights to the modern and busy Rio de Janeiro International Airport. From this Gateway you can reach Búzios either by air, sea or by road. In all cases you will be very welcome. Below you will find information how to get into this peninsula and how to move there.

By Car (From Rio de Janeiro)

Approximately 2 hours from Rio de Janeiro. After passing the toll on the Rio-Niterói bridge, take a left in the direction of Rio Bonito. Soon after arriving at Rio Bonito, take a right onto "Via Lagos" in the direction of Região dos Lagos (Lakes Region).

Stay on this highway. When it ends, continue more 4 miles until reaching a large Ipiranga gas station at the entrance of São Pedro da Aldeia. Take a left at the gas station and then immediately turn right onto RJ-106 in the direction of Macaé/Búzios.

Some 8 miles later you will come to the "Até que Enfim" gas station, where you will turn off to the right. From this point, Búzios is some 10 minutes away.

Transfers

The inns and hotels offer transfer services to Búzios, directly from the airport or your hotel in Rio de Janeiro. The prices vary according to the inn or hotel, but rates can be obtained when booking your reservation. Normally transfers are in luxury air-conditioned cars at US$200 for up to 4 people or in vans at US$ 240 for up to 8 people. (Average prices, round-trip, leaving from Rio de Janeiro).

By Bus

From Rio to Búzios - direct:

The company Viação 1001 offers daily departures from Rodoviária Novo Rio (Novo Rio Bus Terminal - Rio) at the following schedule:

Leaving Rio: 6:30, 9:30, 11:30, 13:30, 15:30, 17:30 and 19:30.
Leaving Búzios: 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00.

NOTE: To get to the Rodoviária Novo Rio (Novo Rio Bus Terminal) from the Rio de Janeiro International Airport, you can take taxis or Viação Real air-conditioned busses, with several departures all day.

From São Paulo to Búzios - direct:

Departures Fridays at 10:44 pm, with return departure on Sundays at 9:30 pm.

Alternate Route - from Cabo Frio:

Viação 1001 offers hourly departures from Rio to Cabo Frio where Viação Salineira does the transportation to Búzios every day with departures every 20 minutes. You can also take a taxi from Cabo Frio to Búzios for approximately US$20.

By Air

The Umberto Modiano Airport (Búzios) operates with a 4265 foot x 100 foot wide illuminated paved runway and can receive corporate jets, Fokker 27 and Fokker 50 aircraft. There are presently no regular flights to Búzios.

By Sea

Marina Porto Búzios and Búzios Yacht Club offer sophisticated harbors to moor your boat safely if you decide to go by sea. The Nautical Chart for Búzios is 1504.
